To keep things interesting (and somewhat consistent) around here, I’ve decided to use Fridays as an excuse to post about one of my favorite things..beauty products! I’m a bit of a product junkie. I’ve been trying to be a little more conscious of the space I take up in the bathroom and the budget, since I could spend thousands of dollars “trying out” new things with “oooh pretty shiny new packaging!” I’m a sucker for some nice, clean, enticing packaging. A marketer’s dream I tell you.
I’ll never forget the look on my sweet husband’s face the first time he came out of my bathroom in the apartment I lived in before I moved to this house. He and his friend had just “popped by” to visit my roommate and I so I didn’t have time to scoop up all the products covering my bathroom counter and throw them in the cabinets underneath like I usually do. (It was a really big counter too…that was a great bathroom). They took it upon themselves to survey our living quarters and when B emerged from my room he looked like he’d seen a ghost, “I’ve never seen so many things in one bathroom in my entire life.” Maybe he was flashing forward to what life with me might be like in the future…but thankfully it didn’t scare him away! Anyway…back to the topic at hand. Product of the week:
Philosophy Purity Cleanser and Hope in a Jar

This stuff is a little pricey, especially since I pride myself on using MOSTLY drugstore make-up, skin care and hair products. The ratio has become a little skewed since Sephora came to town, so I try to stay out of there as much as possible. But the combination of these two products have done more for my skin than absolutely ANYTHING else I have tried. I’m 26 years old and a year ago (before I started using this stuff) I was still breaking out. It was annoying and frustrating and I could not understand why my skin wouldn’t just go ahead and CLEAR UP already. Well, less than a month into using the Purity cleanser, my face was smoother, softer and more clear than it had been since about 7th grade. I was hooked. I then decided to try the Hope in a Jar moisturizer and there was no turning back. This stuff actually makes your skin GLOW. I may get a small break-out around that time of the month, but other than that, my skin has completely changed. Tune in next week to find out about the absolute BEST cure for dry and chapped lips 
ha! I wonder how we ever all fit in that tiny bathroom with all our stuff!
i’d love to see you. i’m SUPER bus right now though, and i can tell you all about why when we catch up. anyways, if you can come to homewood one day for lunch that would be great. nights and weekends are soo full right now.
I still have teenage breakouts….pretty bad…LOL….maybe I should try your recommendations. I am typically cheap, but if its worth it, then hmm….I may try it out!
Amber- I would LOVE to come have lunch one day! I can come down any day except Monday. Just let me know. And I have no clue how we all survived that year…I count it as one of my greatest challenges…but also some of my favorite memories!
Sarah- You should try it! I would at least try the cleanser…I get mine at Sephora and the great thing about them is that they will take ANYTHING back. They also sell a smaller bottle that’s about $10 (still pretty steep) but you’d probably be able to tell if you loved it or not by the time you used it all.) Even if you’ve used half the bottle (I’ve actually done this before) I think you get store credit, but I, of course, was fine with that since they sell so many things that I now just can’t live without ;o)
Can y’all tell I love talking about products? Maybe I’ve found my calling…if only I could find a way to get paid for it…

per your recommendation in the past i have switched to purity and love it! my skin has definitely cleared up and it smells nice, too! i have been using hope in a bottle, which they say is better for oily skin, but i have kind of combination skin, so i think ill switch to hope in a jar next time to check it out. thanks for the great recommendations, claire! i like the product post idea–perfect for you.
Hey girl! Thanks for your comment! We got a Nikon D40 around Christmas and have LOVED it!!! I have heard that it’s the best thing for anyone transitioning from a point-n-shoot to a DSLR. From what I’ve heard the Nikon D60 is a little more complicated and takes more skill to operate than the D40. Almost all…ok ALL of the pictures I have taken have been just on one of the automatic settings. But you can also use all the fancy manual settings too! I just haven’t had time to learn all of that. Anyway, it’s a great investment! Hope y’all are doing well!!
